It is with a heavy heart that Drive4Life advises that in the early hours of 13 April 2022 at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, that Chris Bates has peacefully and painlessly lost his fight with Oesophageal and Brain Cancer.
No doubt you would have all had a conversation with Chris over the last 16 years.
About 18 years ago, Mick had an idea to raise money for the disabled and put it to Chris who was onboard straight away and was one of Mick's biggest supporters. Chris was a valued Organiser on the Drive4Life team, and in no words can you describe it other than he will be so sadly missed, both on a very endearing personal and professional level.
Chris may now rest in peace with his beloved late wife, Raylene.
Mick has taken this news close to heart - Chris you are in our hearts always, gone but not forgotten.
Again, we take the time to thank Chris for the well appreciated time he spent on Drive4Life.
Sincerely, Mick Whitehead
